Day 13 E.G. Daily's Balcony

Yesterday we had another balcony meeting at E.G. Daily's house, a huge mansion on Mount Olympus in LA. E.G. was incredibly warm and supportive, while the band did an amazing job. After the shoot I just stood on the balcony and kept staring at the hazy skyscrapers of downtown LA. This city should be a separate state ... it already has its own laws and traditions ... and the city is too insane to just be a another town in California. We went back to Julius' and I kept working on a couple of pitches and approvals.

Every night when I'm back at the motel the roller coaster ride is over ... at least on the outside, not on the inside. I think that there's a certain kind of limit to what you can absorb during the day and once you reach that limit, everything just pearls off your skin like water. Max taught me a lot about the film scoring industry in LA... it's still the same game as before ... do your own thing and think like a businessman. Don't hand out exclusive licenses and persevere. Find amazing directors and work with them, find amazing musicians and work with them, find amazing people and have fun with them, and eventually things will work out. Even if they don't.
